Railroaders
sweep doubleheader over Pirates.
The
Railroaders came from behind in both games on Saturday
to defeat the Pirates and remain in first place. Midway
through the season, the Railroaders have a 1 game lead
over Greyhounds in second place. Third place Bulls are 4
games back Each of tonight games were 7 innings
each.

24 June 28, 2007
Game
One: score 2-1
The
Pirates scored their first and only run in the top of
the 3rd off of 2 singles and a ground ruled double. The
Railroaders were slow getting the train moving,
stranding 5 runners on base during the next 4 innings.
In the bottom of the 6th, Tyler Owen reached on error
bringing Zak
Shy
to the plate. On a 3-1 count, Shy
lauched a shot over "Little Monster" in right
field for a 2 RBI homerun. Tradewater threaten in the top
of the 7 getting Logan Neal on with a single and
stealing 2nd and 3rd bases. Pirates walked another man
with only 1 out. A strikeout and groundout ended the
game. Aaron
Varnum
got the save and Michael
Lucas
who
pitched a strong game for 6 1/3 innings got the win.
Losing pitcher for the Pirates was Rex Gillim.
Railroaders displayed outstanding defense committing no
errors. Of particular note is short stop Kevin
Gillespie
who put out 6 Pirates, 5 straight over 2 innings and
prevented a tying run from advancing to home. The team
play well and was just getting started for the evening.

Game
Two: score 10-5
In
the second game of the doubleheader, the Pirates again
were first score with 3 runs in the top of 2nd inning.
The Railroaders tied the game in the bottom of the 3rd
with 2 men reaching base on a walk and hit by a pitch.
Then Drew
Roberson singled driving in 2 runs followed
by Cory
Hodskins
who singled getting 1 RBI. Railroaders
gained the lead in the 4th off an RBI single by Kevin
Gillespie. In the 4th again Drew Robertson, with one man
on base, homered over "Little Monster"
bringing on his 4th RBI then another in the 6th by walk
for a total 5 RBIs in the game. In the 5th, using more
aggressive base running and timely hitting, Fulton added
another run. The Pirates came back in the 6th with 2
more runs closing within 1 run. The bottom of the 6th,
Fulton used 4 straight walks and a double by Adam
Williams
to pile on 4 more runs. The winning pitcher was Corey
Brown
who pitched 5 innings allowing 7 hits and 5
runs (3 earned). Jeff
Sciba
gets a save pitching 1
inning giving up 1 hit and striking out 3. Aaron
Varnum
again closed out the game in the 7th in relief.
Pirates
sent 5 pitchers to the mound in attempts to stop the
Railroaders who produced 10 runs on only 7 hits over the
course of the game. The starting pitcher only went
3 innings before leaving for the bench. Losing pitcher
Chip Ammons inherited a 3-3 tie in the 4th and lasted
only 1 inning. The remaining 3 pitchers shared the last
2 innings in a failed attempt to hold the Railroaders
off.

Bulls
trample Railroaders 10-0.
The
Railroaders third game with the Bulls did not turn out
like the first two. The Bulls were able to reverse their
losing streak and shut out the Railroaders. Sikeston
scored their 10 runs using 9 hits, 6 walks and 2 Fulton
errors, committing 0 error in they defense. The
Railroaders had 6 hits and five walks, but couldn't get
the clutch hits at the times needed. Winning pitcher
Robert Anders threw a complete game and struck out 6.
Cory White picked up his first loss of the season only
lasting 3 1/3 innings. White's demise began in the 3rd
inning walking the first batter then hitting the next
two with pitches. Still in the 3rd, he walked 2 more and
with 1 Railroader error the Bulls scored 4 in the inning
with 0 hits. Jeff Scriba came in for Fulton and did not
fair any better allowing 6 hits and 5 more runs. Fulton
still maintains a 1 game lead first
place standing over Union City. The Railroaders return
to Lohaus Field on Friday and Saturday to face with the
Tradewater Pirates.

21 & 22 June 27, 2007
Railroaders
get 2 big wins over Bulls.
The
Railroaders on the road to Sikeston, came up with 2
sweet wins in Wednesday's doubleheader with the Bulls.
The extra sweet was 2 complete (7 innings) games
pitching from Chris Craycraft and John Selb. Two games
totals were 13 runs on 17 hits, committed 0 errors, and
left 20 men on base. Fulton has widen their first place
lead by 2 games with Union City now in second place.
Game
one: score 8-1
In
the first game the Railroaders got things rolling in the
3rd inning with 2 runs on 2 hits and 1 error, both runs
earned. While holding the Bulls at bay, the Railroaders
continued scoring 2 runs each in the next two innings.
In the 4th, Drew
Roberson
had a 2 run shot clearing the left field fence near foul
pole. 5th inning's 2 runs came from 3 singles and a
walk. The Bulls finally scored their only run in the
bottom of the 6th. During that half inning of play, a
Bulls' player batted out of turn reaching base with a
single and driving in their only run. The umpire called
the missing batter out and allowed the hit and run
scored to stand. Railroaders' coach David
Estes
argued the point and was ejected from the game.
Railroaders continued in the 7th and added 2 more runs
on 2 singles, 1 walk and aggressive base running by Zak
Shy
who went 2 for 2 with 2 walks, scored 2 and 1 RBI for
the game. Winning pitcher Chris
Craycraft
threw the full 7 innings striking out 8, walking 5 and
allowing only 3 hits with 1 earned run. Lance Young took
the loss for Sikeston. Final score 8-1.

two: score
6-0
Railroader
John
Selb
pitched a complete shutout allowing only one hit,
striking out 9 and walking 2 the the second 7 inning
game on Wednesday night. The Bulls sent 4 pitchers to
the mound in attempts to stop Railroaders' aggression
and to no avail. Railroaders scored early and often in 4
or the 7 innings. Zak
Shy
again lead the charge going 1 for 1 (a double and RBI)
with 3 walks (another RBI on one walk). Tyler
Rehmel
went 3 for 4 with a double and one RBI. In the second
error free game for the night, the Railroaders shut down
the Bulls who scrambled to gain footing on the field.
Numerous lineup changes and substitutions did nothing to
help Sikeston get out of the gate. Although the
Railroaders stranded 13 men on base in game 2, their 6
runs were more than enough to finish off the Bulls for
the evening. The Railroaders return to VFW Memorial Stadium
again tonight for the third game of this series with the
Bulls who have now dropped into 4th place and 3 games
behind Fulton. The Railroaders return home on Friday for
2 nights against the 3rd place Tradewater Pirates.

Railroaders
take down Greyhounds 6-1.
On a nice summer night for baseball, the Railroaders
defeated the Greyhounds with 9 hits including a 2 RBI
double by Kevin Gillespie. Scoring came in the 3rd and
6th innings with 3 runs each. The Greyhounds produced 6
hits and scored their only run in the top of the 5th.
Fulton stranded 7 while Union City left 11 runners on
base. A solid performance by winning pitcher Corey Brown
who went for 7 1/3 innings, striking out 9 and walking
5. Arron Varnum came in for relief for 1 2/3 innings
striking out 3 more Greyhounds and fielding 2 more outs
himself. The losing pitcher for the Greyhounds was
Jarrett Casey who also struck out 9 and walked 5. The
Railroader defense was on track and shut down several
treats, committing only 2 error.
The
Railroaders hit the road for a 3 game series in Sikeston
against the second place Bulls with a doubleheader on Wednesday and a
single game on Thursday. They return home on Friday and
Saturday to face off with the Tradewater Pirates. With
tonight's win, the Fulton maintains the lead in the
league standings.

Greyhounds
defeat Railroaders 5-2.
In Sunday's action at Fulton, the
Union City Greyhounds used 2 homeruns that produced 5
runs to beat the Railroaders. Fulton scored first in the
bottom of the 3rd with an unearned run. Union City
answered in the 4th with a 3 run shot by catcher Tom
Cerven. The Railroaders got another unearned run in the
6th to close the gap by 1. In the top of the 9th Union
City's Zach
Hudson,
with 1 on and 2 outs, hit the Greyhound's second
homerun. The Railroaders threaten in the bottom the 9th
with 2 men on but ended the game with a flyout. Fulton
got 6 hits and stranded 12 in the game, and also
committed 3 costly errors. The winning pitcher for the
Greyhounds was Brad
Rowland
who went 7 innings. Losing for the Railroaders was
Michael Lucas who went the distance.
The Railroaders
face
off again Monday night, at home, against the Greyhounds
for the second game in the series. Fulton maintains a
half game lead in standings over Sikeston, and 1 game
ahead of Union City.

Railroaders
end road trip with Victory over Oilers.
The Railroaders swept the Oilers in three straight games
in Owensboro by winning the third game with a score of
9-8. Both teams battled with Fulton leading 5-0 in the
5th inning before the Oilers started coming back, but
the Railroaders prevail at games end.
Game details and box scores will
be posted as received from KIT League sources.
Fulton now leads the league by 1/2 game over Sikeston
who won against Tradewater. Union City lost to
Farmington and is 1 1/2 games behind. The Railroaders
now take a day off and return home on Sunday to face the
Union City Greyhounds.
For
this road trip, the Railroaders dropped the first game
on Monday to Farmington but have come back to win the
next 4 straight games. One against Farmington and three
with Owensboro. With 9 total away games thus far this
season, the Railroaders are 6-3. At home they are 5-4.

16 & 17 June 21, 2007
Railroaders
beat Oilers twice in Doubleheader.
The Railroaders took the first game against the Oilers
4-1. Chris Craycraft started the game and gave up only 1
unearned run which scored on an error by Kevin Gillespie.
He ended up having a no hitter until the 7th inning
getting bases loaded, then turned the ball over to Aaron
Varnum who came in with only 1 out. Varnum got out of
the jam to get the win after also pitching the 8th. The
Railroaders ended up winning 4-1 after Jeff Reinke got a
leadoff hit in the top of the 8th and ended up scoring
along with 2 others in that inning.
In
the second game John Selb went 6 innings only giving up
1 run before turning the ball over again to Aaron Varnum.
With bases loaded, a 4-6-3 double play ended the game
and produced a win with a final score of 3-2. The
Railroaders pitching was superb in both games. Big hits
on the day were Jeff Reinke getting on in the last
innings of both games, Tyler Owens triple in the second
game and Gillespies' hit in the second game during the
last inning.

Railroaders
win 5-2 against Firebirds.
The Railroaders beat the Firebirds in the 2nd game of a
two game series in Farmington. Game details and box scores will
be posted when received from KIT League sources.
After all Tuesday's action the league is back to a 5-way
tie for first place, The Railroaders now travel
to Owensboro for three games against the Oilers, a
doubleheader on
Thursday and one game on Saturday. They
return home on Sunday to face Union City.

Firebirds
get by Railroaders by 1 run.
The Railroaders on the road in Farmington fall short
losing 3-2 to the Firebirds. Fulton could not hold an
2-0 lead in the rain as the Firebirds scored 3
runs in the 8th inning. Game details and box scores will

The Railroaders fall into second place in league
standing behind Owensboro and Union City. Railroaders
play a second game at Farmington on Tuesday, then travel
to Owensboro for three games against the Oilers. They
return home on Sunday to face Union City.

Railroaders
beat Greyhounds 7-6.
The Railroaders beat back the Greyhounds in a close game
on Saturday night. Fulton jumped out with a 6-0 lead in
the 1st inning that included a grand slam homer by
second baseman Tyler
Rehmel.
The Greyhounds answered with 2 runs in the 2nd inning
and a 2 run homerun by Blake McDade in the 6th.
Railroader Zak
Shy
increased Fulton's lead in the 8th with a solo homerun
bringing the score to 7-4. In the top of 9th inning with
2 outs and 1 man on, Greyhound Ben Darlington hit a
homerun to close the gap by 1. Winning pitcher Cory
White
finished a complete game by fielding a ground ball and
throwing the last out to first base. White's season
record goes to 3-0. Losing pitcher Alex
Berry also threw a complete game, just coming up short.
Union City took the first 2 games of the series with huge
scores and kept the pressure on in the 3rd game. But the
Railroaders finally got good pitching and the bats when
they counted, only stranding 4 men on base. The
Railroaders now hit the road for 5 away games, 2 in
Farmington and 3 in Owensboro. They return home Sunday,
June 24 to face Union City once more in a 2 game series.

12, June 15, 2007
Railroaders
fall to Greyhounds 11-3. Railroaders
jumped out early in the second inning with 3 runs in
game 2 with the Greyhounds, but were unable to stop
Union City from scoring 11 unanswered runs. Fulton had
only 6 hits while Union City had 13. Winning pitcher for
UC was Tyler Hyde, taking the loss for the Railroaders
was John Selb who only threw for 4 1/3 innings. It’s
Fulton second straight losing effort against Union City.
The race for the lead in league standings was pretty
tight going into tonight’s game, but Fulton now falls
one game behind Union City. The Railroaders close out
the 3 game series with the Greyhounds on Saturday night
and a chance to get back even with Union City. The
game is at home in Lohaus Field and it is Sam Miller
State Farm sponsor night with giveaways. On the mount
for the Railroaders is Cory White who is 2-0 on the
season (one complete game) with an ERA of 1.93. Game
time is 7 p.m.

Greyhounds
race hard past Railroaders 10-1. The
Railroaders were flat Thursday night as the Greyhounds
ran up the score to 10 before the only Fulton run came
in, a solo homerun by Kyle Bondy. The Hounds produced 17
hits and still stranded 10 men on base. Fulton mustered
6 hits, left 8 on base and committed 4 errors. Losing
pitcher Chris Craycraft pitched 6 only 4 innings
allowing 8 runs on 10 hits. Winning pitcher for the
Greyhounds, JB MacDonald, threw a strong game for 6
innings allowing only 2 hits and striking out 7. The
second game of the series is tomorrow night, Friday, in
Union City. Railroaders back home on Saturday to finish
the 3 game series with Union City.

10, June 12, 2007
Railroaders thrash Bulls 7-0. In
Tuesday night's action, the Railroaders evened the 2
game series against the Bulls with a shutout. Pitching a
strong game, Corey
Brown
threw for the full 9 innings allowing only 3 hits,
striking out 12 batters and 1 walk. The Fulton defense
played well and came up with 3 double plays. The
offensive produced 12 hits, 2 of them doubles along
with 2 homeruns by Allen
Bolden
and Tyler
Owen.
Railroaders still stranded 8 men on base, but run
productions is getting better. The Bulls were unable to
rally at any point in the game and played good defense
committing only 1 error. However, the Railroaders
bats were hot with hits in all areas of the field. The
losing pitcher for the Bulls was Robert Anders.
Railroaders
face off against the Union City Greyhounds on Thursday
night at home in Lohaus Field. There's sure to be
support from UC that night, so Railroader Fans should
come out and cheer the team on as they play their rival
Greyhounds.

Bulls
take first game 4-2 over Railroaders. By
the time the Railroaders got their scoring machine
going, it was too late. The Bulls scored 2 right off the
bat in the first inning. They added another run in the
6th inning and one more in the 7th. Fulton rallied in
the bottom of the 9th, with 2 runs but with 1 out and 2
men, Kyle Bondy hit into a double ending the game.
Winning pitcher for the Bulls was Ryan Poole, losing for
the Railroaders was Michael Lucas. The win evens the
Bulls' record with the Railroaders at 5-4. Railroader
play the Bulls again on Tuesday night at Lohaus Field.

Fulton
Railroaders win doubleheader over Tradewater Pirates.
After
dropping the first game of a 3 game series at Riverside
Park on Thursday, the Railroaders got back on track winning
both games of a doubleheader against the Pirates on
Friday night. Game one score was 3-2 and game two score
4-1. Since
Fulton took 2 of the 3 game series over Tradewater, both
teams are tied for the lead in league standings. The
Railroaders now get two days off before returning home
to Lohaus field on Monday night to host the Sikeston
Bulls for two nights of baseball action.

Railroaders
fall to Pirates 2-6.
At the first away game on Thursday, the Fulton
Railroaders attacked the Tradewater Pirates, but not the
way they intended. Railroaders’ losing pitchers had a bad night hitting
5 Pirates with pitches
and walked 3 more, as the Pirates added 6 hits producing
6 runs. The Railroaders’ 2 runs came on 7 hits while
stranding 6 men on base. This was the first of three
games Fulton plays at Tradewater, with 2 today in a
doubleheader. At only 2 games behind Tradewater in the
league standings, it is a chance for Fulton to redeem
the loss and gain ground on the Pirates.

5, June 5, 2007
Railroaders
come up short by 2 in 12 innings, losing to Oilers.
The
crowd was small but vocal as they urge the Railroaders
on in extra innings Tuesday night. Owensboro scored
first in the 3rd with 2 runs, Fulton answered with 1 run
in the bottom of the inning. The Railroaders added
another in the 8th with a solo homerun by Shannon
Anderson
to tie the game at 2. Both sides battled for 4 more
innings until the Oilers finally scored 2 with 2 hits on
1 error, a sacrifice bunt and a batter hit by a pitch.
The Railroaders threaten in the bottom the 12th with 2
men on base, but ended with a fly out foul for the third
out. Railroaders produced 12 hits but stranded 16 on
base and committed 3 errors. Owensboro's run production
was better coming up with 4 runs on 5 hits and had 2
errors. Matt

the loss, both in relief. Game time was 3 hours 27
minutes, final score 2-4. With tonight's loss, Fulton moves into a tie
for 2nd place with Union City. Tradewater won and
moves into the first position.

Railroaders hit the road for 2 games against the
Tradewater Pirates on Thursday and Friday this week.
They return home and play next Monday to take on the
Sikeston Bulls for 2 nights of baseball action in Lohaus
Field.

Railroaders win over Owensboro Oils 5-3 on Monday
On
a beautiful night for baseball, fans were treated with a
win as the Railroaders beat the Oilers in the first of a
2 game series at Lohaus Field. Owensboro scored first in
the 4th with a homer by Freeman with a runner on. Fulton
answer with 1 run in the 5th and 3 more in the 6th.
Oilers put another run on the board in the 7th to close
the score to 4-3. Bottom of the 8th, Zak
Shy
added insurance by hitting the Railroaders' first season
homerun to make the final score 5-3. Winning pitcher Michael
Lucas
pitched 8 innings allowing the Oilers' 3 runs on 10
hits, 2 walks and striking out 5. Adam
Williams
pitched the final inning and the defense closed out a
final threat by the Oilers.

Railroaders
and Firebirds split a Sunday Doubleheader
The
First Game of the doubleheader on Sunday with Farmington
is one Fulton would prefer to forget. The Firebirds were
ready to even the score for their loss to the
Railroaders Friday night, and more! When the smoke
cleared, Farmington routed Fulton 23-2 with 19 hits and
8 walks in the 7 inning game. Winning pitcher Joshua
Manning went for 5 innings striking out 7 with only 1
walk. He allowed 5 hits but the Firebird defense shut
down attempts by Railroaders to comeback. Each team
committed only one error. Railroader manager Brain Hicks
used four pitchers trying to shutdown the offensive slaughter
but to no avail. The losing pitcher for Fulton was John
Selb.

In
the Second Game, the Railroaders played a more complete
game beating the Firebirds 5-4. Winning pitcher Cory
White,
a home town favorite from South Fulton, was on the mound
for the full 7 inning game. The pitching was strong and
the Railroader defense followed suite despite committing
3 errors. A couple of late game rallies by the Firebirds
threaten to take the lead, but Fulton held on to
win. The Railroaders scored 3 in the 1st inning,
another 1 each in the 2nd and 3rd to produce their 5
total. Losing pitcher Blake Jones was replaced in
the 4th inning and Moss finished the game. The
Railroaders' offensive produced 8 hits and was lead by Kyle
Bondy who
drove
in in 2 RBIs with a triple in the 1st, then a double in the 3rd
and scoring 4 plays later. It was a much more
exciting game for the Fans and a needed comeback for the
team.
After
a long night of baseball, the Railroaders complete the
series against the Firebirds 2 games to 1, but there's
no time to rest. They face the 2006 league champion
Owensboro Oilers on Monday and Tuesday at Lohaus Field.

Railroaders
Roll to 8-0 win over Firebirds.
In
front of 268 fans gathered for opening night in Lohaus Stadium,
the Fulton Railroaders shut-out the Farmington Firebirds
producing 8 runs on 10 hits and committing only 1
error. Farmington was only able to muster 2 hits
and had 3 errors. Winning pitcher Chris
Craycraft
went 6 innings and stuck out 8. He got into trouble
early in the first 3 innings, particularly in the 3rd
when he walked two and allowed a hit to load the bases
with no outs. He stuck out the next batter and then a
6-4-3 double-play ended the inning. Adam
Williams
and Michael
Lucas
wrapped up the final 3 innings. Lead off hitter and
returning 2006 Railroader Allen
Bolden
crossed the plate 3 times to lead the scoring. The
Railroaders exploded in the 6th sending 12 men to plate
before the Firebirds could shut them down.
